Our Community

Just 200 miles south of Anchorage, an hour drive from world famous Kenai River, and twenty minutes from the grandeur of Kachemak Bay, the personal warmth and friendliness of the residents of this rural community attract visitor and newcomer alike. A cross section of homesteaders, commercial fishermen, business owners, and retirees, Anchor Point is held together by common interest, cooperation, and a true caring for our neighbor.

Anchor Point has many non-profit organizations that offer a variety of activities for their members and the community at large. Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce, Anchor Point Senior Citizens, Friends of the Library, and the local post of the VFW all boast an active membership and sponsor many events throughout the year for the entire community.

Our well trained volunteer fire department and emergency medical services provide top quality response to any emergency. South Peninsula Hospital is only 20 minutes away.

"Anchor Point, Come to Play, Come to Stay" is as sincerely extended now as when it was first coined many years ago by early pioneering families.

ANCHOR POINT GOVERNMENT

Anchor Point is an unincorporated community. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is our governing body. Two area representatives on the Assembly and one on the Borough Planning Commission represent us at the Borough. Anchor Point is also represented by the Advisory Planning Commission, which advises the Borough Planning Commission and Assembly on local issues.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce is a strong voice for the community presenting the concerns of the community to Borough, State, and Federal representatives. The Chamber, through its representative on the State Chamber Board of Directors, is able to present local business concerns to the State Legislature.
