Community Meeting Wed 12/15
AP Volunteer Fire/EMS requesting community input on KPB Assembly Ord

A meeting is scheduled Wednesday, December 15, beginning at 7PM at the
Anchor Point Senior Center. This is an informational meeting to discuss
proposed changes to the Anchor Point Fire Service District organizational
bylaws. The public is encouraged to attend and give public comment. More
information about the proposed bylaw changes can be found on the Kenai
Peninsula Borough’s website at www.borough.kenai.ak.us/
Anchor Point Holiday Lighting Contest Judging Dec 28
Three will win a $100 Energy Credit from HEA
The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Holiday Lighting
Contest. A $100 energy credit, sponsored by Homer Electric Association,
will be awarded for the best lighting in three categories: residential,
business and non-profit. Judging will be on Tuesday, December 28 and everyone
within the Anchor Point Fire Service district is eligible. Pick up an
entry form at the Anchor Point Visitor Center or the Anchor River Inn
store. Entries must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, December 28 to be considered.

APCOC Members Elect Two Directors
2011 Chamber Board include new and returning members.
Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce members voted to elect Ray Drake and
John Cox to the 2011 Anchor Point Board of Directors. Three candidates
were on the ballot to elect for to two board seats. A third seat is available
for assignment by the sitting board of directors.
2010 Anchor Point Community Awards Jan 15
Nominations sought from community in 5 categories
The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2010
Anchor Point Community Awards - an annual event that recognizes the efforts
of those special individuals that make Anchor Point a wonderful place
to work, live and play. Nominations are accepted in five award categories:
Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Business
of the Year and the Golden Deed Award. Nomination forms can be picked
up at all Anchor Point businesses. Forms must be returned by Monday, January
3, 2011. The Community Awards presentation will be on Saturday, January
15 at the Anchor River Inn. For more information, please contact the Chamber

ENSTAR
Discussion of Anchor Point Gasline progress Thursday May 27th
The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly Town Talk community
meeting on Thursday, May 27th beginning at 7PM at the Anchor River Inn.
This month's guest presenter will be ENSTAR representatives John Sims
and Charlie Pierce with an update on the proposed Anchor Point natural
gas line. This event is open to the public and admission is free. For

AP Family Fun Fest Committee Plans
Bash For Memorial Weekend
Air Force Band of the Pacific Top Cover returns for Saturday Concert
Anchor Point will host its annual Memorial Weekend Family Fun Festival
May 28-31. Events include a free community barbeque on Friday and Saturday,
games for the whole family Saturday afternoon and a performance by the
world renowned Air Force Band of the Pacific. Pancake breakfast will be
available Saturday through Monday at the Anchor Point Senior Center, as
well as events at the Virl "PA" Haga VFW post 10221 and cemetery
ceremonies in Homer, Anchor Point and Ninilchik. Click

Point Memorial Weekend Family Fun Festival is sponsored by Pioneer Natural
Resources, the community of Anchor Point, family and friends.
Lauren A crew wins SPSA Saltwater
Fishing Tourney
Winners split $956.25
The five member crew of the fishing vessel Lauren A were the grand prize
winners of the 2010 So. Peninsula Sportsmans Association Saltwater King
Salmon Fishing Tournament, held this weekend in Anchor Point. A total
of 23 fishing vessels were registered for the tournament. The winner of
the boat auction was Beth Finney.

Anchor Point Community Clean Up Day is May 1
The snow has finally started to recede and now is the time to clean
up and get ready for the summer! Join us for the annual Anchor Point Clean
Up Day, Saturday May 1. Sponsored by BP and the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
Trash bags are available at the Anchor Point Visitors Center starting
April 20. Not sure where to begin? Contact the Anchor Point Chamber at
235-2600 for locations or to help with spring cleaning at the Visitor
Center.

April's featured speaker - Bill Walker for Governor
Anchor Point Chamber hosts the first of our Town Talk meetings on Thursday,
April 29, starting at 7PM at the Anchor River Inn.
April's Town Talk will feature speaker Bill Walker, candidate for Alaska
Governor:
BIO: Bill Walker is a lifelong Alaskan. He was born
in Fairbanks and raised in Delta Junction and Valdez. He celebrated
Alaska's Statehood, helped his family recover from their devastating
losses in the '64 earthquake, worked out of three labor unions in constructing
the TransAlaska Pipeline and served as Mayor of Valdez at the age of
27. He and his wife, Donna, then went on to law school and own their
own law practice here in Anchorage where they have lived for over twenty
years. Bill's specializes in oil and gas and municipal law and serves
as the general counsel/project manager for the Alaska Gasline Port Authority.
Bill's efforts to accomplish the building of the All-Alaska Gasline
began even before he was mayor. He is running for governor and has received
the endorsement of long time All Alaska Gasline advocate, Governor Wally
Hickel.
2nd Quarter 2010 Youth Extra Curricular Grant
Recipient Announced
3rd Quarter deadline is June 1
Congratulations to the Chapman School wrestling team as the recipients
of the 2nd quarter 2010 Youth Extra Curricular Grant. The next application
period for the 2010 3rd Quarter grant is March 1-June 1. Grants of $250
are awarded quarterly to benefit youth living in the Anchor Point Fire
Service area for use in particiapating in extracurricular activiites such
as sports, music and educational activities. For more information or to
pick up an application, please stop by the Anchor Point Chamber office
or call 235-2600.
KPEDD Business Survey
The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District is requesting your
participatin in a business survey to identify the gaps or barriers to
economic development in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The 15-minute survey
is open to all Borough residents and business owners. Results of this
survey wil be used to analyze the business climateof the Borough and help
the economic development district better assist your needs. Surveys are
available online at the KPEDD website and then by clicking on the "KP
Gap Analysis Survey" link on the left of the page. Survey will be
available until May 15, 2010.

What a Rondi!
Anchor Point Wraps up 2010-Let's Rondi Again celebration
The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce would like to say a hearty thank
you to all of the wonderful volunteers, donors and participants for this
year's Anchor Point Snow Rondi. Our weather was typically wintery, but
the reception was as warm as we could ever hope for. The Thursday Snow
Rondi Benefit Auction exceeded the anticipated goal of $2,000, the Ken
Wardwell Pool Tournament held a number of surprises with an impressive
22 entrants, and the Saturday and Sunday events drew very cold-hearty
crowds of spectators and participants. Congratulations to our Snow Rondi
button winner Tim White of KTGL for holding the winning button. The Chamber
is already making plans for next year's Snow Rondi, if you have suggestions
for next year's event, please contact the Anchor Point Chamber office

Snow Rondi Special Edition - Part IV
ARE YOU READY TO RONDI?
If you've been following along, you know what today is....the start of
THE highlight event of the winter season: "2010 - Let's Rondi Again!"
We're ready to Rondi at the Anchor Point Chamber! This year's Snow Rondi
is Feb 25-28, and the weekend of fun continues on Sunday Day 4 with great
winter activities for the whole family!
Beginning at 9:00AM, start your day at the Anchor Point Senior Center
- enjoy a delicious breakfast to keep you going through the long day.
At 12noon get ready for plenty of ZOOOOOOOM as the Big Kids start off
the snowmachine events at Griner's Pit. Then at 1PM, it's the little kids
turn to show off their stuff on the snow.
Do you like things that go BOOOOOOM? Then you will enjoy the fun at the
Mountain Man Classic. Competition starts at 2PM at the gun range. All
competitors must attend the gun safety meeting at 1PM to participate.
At 5:30PM, head back to the Anchor River Inn for the closing of our Snow
Rondi festival and cheer on the winners of the weekend activities. BUT....did
you remember to buy a Snow Rondi button? You better hurry~Sunday afternoon
at the awards presentation is the drawing for the Split the Jackpot. Just
$2 per button (buttons must be present to win)...think of what your investment
can return! Buttons are available at local Anchor Point businesses or
at the Chamber office.

ARE YOU READY TO RONDI?
Have you made your weekend plans yet? Make sure they include THE highlight
event of the winter season: "2010 - Let's Rondi Again!"
We're ready to Rondi at the Anchor Point Chamber! This year's Snow Rondi
is Feb 25-28, and the fun continues on Saturday Day 3 with great winter
activities for the whole family!
Beginning at 9:00AM, start your day at the Anchor Point Senior Center
- enjoy a delicious breakfast to keep you going through the long day.
Then at 10:30AM - the annual Snow Rondi Parade. From one end of town
to the other, join us to celebrate our Snow Rondi. (We still have room
for marchers and floats - contact the Chamber to sign up). Starting at
Petro Express and ending at the Anchor River Inn Store.
Activies begin promptly after the parade at Chapman School with nordic
events, ice bowling, a pinewood derby, and the ever popular snow shoe
softball tournament. We'll be playing well into the afternoon, so be sure
to keep energized with a stop into the Visitor Center for snacks provided
by Girl Scout Troop 515, or get a cup of hot cocoa from the Anchor Point
Public Library booth.
Then get ready to party in the evening to the sounds of 8 Mile Band at
the VFW, or peek into the final heat of the Texas Hold'Em Tournament finals
at the Anchor River Inn. It's too late to join the tournament, but tables
will be available for open play.

Snow Rondi Special Edition - Part II
ARE YOU READY TO RONDI? It's coming up fast..just a few short days until
THE highlight event of the winter season: "2010 - Let's Rondi Again!"
We're ready to Rondi at the Anchor Point Chamber! This year's Snow Rondi
is Feb 25-28, and the competition begins in earnest on Day 2 with the
Ken Wardwell Pool Tournament, beginning Friday at 7pm at the Anchor River
Inn.
Are you a pool shark or a minnow? Test your billiard skills with the
best players in and around the Anchor Point area. Entry fee is $20 and
players must be registered in time for the player auction on Thursday.
Not an pool player but still want to get in on the action? Bid up the
high ball during the Pool Player Auction on Thursday night during the
Snow Rondi Benefit Auction!
And for the kids - or those who are kids at heart - you can enjoy a free
movie at Chapman School from 6 to 8pm on Friday. This year's film is Cloudy
with a Chance of Meatballs. Rated G. Children must be accompanied by parent
or guardian.

Snow Rondi Special Edition - Part I
ARE YOU READY TO RONDI? We're ready to Rondi at the Anchor Point Chamber!
This year's Snow Rondi is Feb 25-28, and we kick off the festivities with
the ever-popular Snow Rondi Benefit Auction - Thursday, Feb 25 at the
Anchor River Inn.
The Snow Rondi auction is the Chamber's "FUN"-raiser to benefit
the annual Snow Rondi celebration and we need your help. The Anchor Point
Chamber of Commerce is looking for donations of local products and services
to showcase for silent and outcry bidding. Donations to past auctions
have included gift certificates, charters, knives, pizzas, topsoil, mounted
fish...you name it, and we’ve had it! Our goal for this year's auction
is to raise $2,000 to fund the 2010-Let's Rondi Again celebration.

office Monday-Friday 10-4pm. Item pick up is available with advance notice.

It's 2010 - Let's Rondi Again!
Anchor Point Snow Rondi celebration starts Feb 25
Mark your calendars, you don't want to miss out on any of the action of
the 2010 Anchor Point Snow Rondi - February 25-28. This year's theme is
"Rondi 2010-Let's Rondi Again". Join the community of Anchor
Point for a weekend of fun for the whole family with games, a parade,
prizes and more! Official programs and buttons will be available starting
Monday February 8 at Anchor Point businesses and at the Chamber of Commerce.

The Anchor Point Community Awards banquet was held Saturday, January 23rd
at the Anchor River Inn. The Anchor Point Chamber was honored to recognize
these the people and businesses that made extraordinary contributions
to our community this past year: Citizen of the Year: Margie Youngman,
Senior Citizen of the Year: Vi Hall, Student of the Year: Taylor Ellison,
Business of the Year: Anchor Point Supply, Employee of the Year: Gerri
Eskelson, Golden Deed Award: Milli Martin, Community Beautification: Aurora
Taxes and Lighthouse Community Assembly, Christmas Lighting: Bruce and
Julie Babbitt, Anchor Point Volunteer Fire and EMS, Thurmonds Auto. The
Chamber congratulates this year’s recipients. Nominations for 2010

Great Alaska Sportsman Show April 8-11
APCOC is looking for community representatives to help staff the Anchor
Point Chamber booth at the Great Alaska Sportsman Show in April. This
is a great opportunity to promote the community, as well as put you in
contact with hundreds potential customers. Space is limited - please contact

Extra Curricular Grant Program
Congratulations to Rebekah Ruzicka, winner of the 2009 4th quarter Chamber
Extracurricular Activity Grant. Miss Ruzicka will be representing the
Anchor Point community on the trail at the 2010 Junior Iditarod. The next
application period for the 2010 1st Quarter grant is January 1-March 1.
Grants of $250 are awarded quarterly for students K-12 living in the Anchor
Point Fire Service area for use in participating in extracurricular activities
